Mama’s Turkey Burgers
Those of you who know me, know that I am a master at creating good food with what I have on hand. I bought some ground turkey yesterday at the grocery and the recipe was wide open. I opened the frig and took a look around. Next, the pantry. The end result is by FAR, the best turkey burger I have ever had.
Ingredients:
1.25 pounds of ground turkey (makes 6 large patties)
5.5 ounces of green onions
8 ounces of herbed mozzarella string cheese (you can use any cheese you like. I almost used smoked Gouda and also aged white cheddar)
6 ounces (half a bag) of Broccoli slaw (shredded broccoli, carrots and red cabbage) (uncooked)
butt rub seasoning (use any seasoning you want)
6 leeks (One for each burger)
Ciabatta buns (or any kind of bun or bread you like)
————————
Add the turkey meat to a large mixing bowl
Chop the broccoli slaw. Add to the turkey

Chop green onions and add to the turkey mixture

Chop the cheese and add it to the mixture

add seasoning. (I used probably 2 tablespoons of the butt rub, you can use how much you want.

mix together until fully incorporated.
you can make patties by hand or sue a hamburger press. I line my press with a baggie, add a m oversized ice cream scoop of turkey mixture and top with another baggie. Press and take out with the baggies. You never have to touch the meat with the baggies.

Fry or bake until golden brown.
Slice the leeks. caramelize in a skillet or in an oven. If you choose the oven, toss the sliced leeks in a bowl with some coconut oil. Spread out thinly on a baking sheet. Bake at 375 until caramelized.
